My embarkation to combat cancer  ~Prof. Wang Zhen-Guo~ “My plead to save my mother from Cancer!” That was at my age of 18 when I was undergoing practical training at the Liu Dao Gou Health Clinic in Tong Hua City in the capacity as an intern in a medical institute. One day, when I passed by the entrance of a ward, a young lady of about 13 whose mother was admitted to the hospital due to terminal stage of liver cancer, suddenly knelt down before my feet and cried “ Doctor, please save my mother. I beg you to save her please”. At that moment I was wearing in white, and perhaps that was how I was mistaken to be a doctor. I was, however, only a medical intern, a young fellow who could not even dare to claim to be a doctor. Yet, I gather that it was entirely impossible to help this mother suffering from the final stage of the disease.

 

Even if I had changed my thinking thus “ I shall somehow be a doctor in future. I must help her. This is my mission”, yet to deal with such a disease as CANCER, I did not even have the courage to fight against it by that time. Eventually, in a week’s time, the mother passed away.  It was on a day in October 1972 when I cursed against my own incapability. I felt ashamed of being unable even to wipe the teardrops of the young lady. Then on that day, I swore. “I must not allow anyone suffer from such a painful feeling as the sadness when a daughter loses her parents or when a family loss their relative.” This was how my combat against CANCER began. Prof. Wang’s Achievements -         Supreme Honor of the Best Invention for his achievement in 1989 at the 38th World Eureka Invention Expo. -         Awarded Medal of Honor, General Medal and Knight Medal by the Kingdom of Belgium. -         Elected one of the Ten Most Outstanding Youths if China in 1990and was personally commended by Jian Zemin, Li Peng and other state leaders. -        Listed in the “International Who’s Who” by the Cambridge International Biology Centre in 1992 -         Won a Prize of Outstanding Contributions in Research and Development of Cancer Treatment and Prevention in Los Angeles Convention Center on 10th Dec. 2000. -         Awarded "Advances in Herbal Therapies for cancer and Immune System Enhancement" by America Cancer Control Society in May 2002.
